Smartcomm at CTIA – Final Day

The International CTIA 2012 Conference came to a close on Thursday, May 10th, after 3 days of keynotes, panel discussions, meetings, and floor exhibitions. Lines formed in the early afternoon to enter the La Nouvelle Ballroom of the Ernest N. Morial convention center, where former President Bill Clinton was preparing to wrap up the trade show as the final keynote speaker.

Smartcomm at CTIA Day 2, Part 2

The 2012 International CTIA Conference was held in New Orleans this year, at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. With over 300,000 square feet of exhibit space, walking the floor was a bit intimidating, but there was a lot to see!

Smartcomm at CTIA – Day 2

The second day of CTIA's show began with another great keynote session. Steve Largent, CTIA's CEO and President kicked off introductions by relaying more statistics about the wireless industry. He stated that a report from NDN looked at the time between April 2007 and June of 2011 and found that during that time, the transition from 2G to 3G accounted for almost 1.5 million new jobs. NDN also reports that every 10% gain in 3G and 4G penetration within one year will lead to over 250,000 new jobs.

Smartcomm at CTIA - Day 1, Part 2

The first day of CTIA last week closed off with an afternoon discussion featuring the CEOs of the top four wireless carriers in the US.  Moderating this executive roundtable was CNBC Mad Money's host, Jim Cramer, who wasn't afraid to jump right in and ask questions and point out differences between the companies.

Smartcomm at CTIA - Day 1

I have never been to New Orleans, so having CTIA held here last week was quite a treat. The show started off with a bang, as a jazzy performance of "When the Saints Go Marching In" filled the La Nouvelle Ballroom on Level 2 of the NOLA convention center. It was the first keynote session to start the festivities of the wireless world for the next few days.
